What is Foundayo?
Foundayo is a once-daily tablet containing orforglipron, made by Eli Lilly. The MHRA authorised it on 10 August 2026, making the UK the first country in Europe to license it.
Orforglipron is a GLP-1 receptor agonist. It activates the same receptor as medicines like Wegovy, acting on the parts of the brain that regulate appetite. The effect is that you feel hungry less often, feel full sooner, and find it easier to eat less.
What makes it different?
What makes it different is its chemistry. Orforglipron is a small molecule rather than a peptide, which means it survives digestion without needing to be injected or taken on an empty stomach.
That is why it can be taken at any time of day, with or without food.

Foundayo is manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company and is authorised in the UK for weight management by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). It is under additional monitoring — the black triangle symbol on this page reflects that.
Who Foundayo is for?
Foundayo is licensed for adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or a BMI between 27 and 30 alongside at least one weight-related health condition such as prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnoea or cardiovascular disease.
It is prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Meeting the BMI criteria does not automatically mean it is right for you — one of our clinicians reviews your full medical history first.

Foundayo may suit you if
You want the benefits of a GLP-1 medicine without injecting
A daily tablet suits you better than remembering a weekly injection
You travel often, or don’t have reliable fridge space
You live somewhere our cold-chain deliveries can’t reliably reach
Foundayo is not suitable if you
Are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breast-feeding
Are allergic to orforglipron or any of the ingredients
Have severe liver problems
Are under 18
Tell your clinician if you have ever had pancreatitis, have severe problems with food leaving your stomach, have kidney, liver or gallbladder problems, have eye problems caused by diabetes, take insulin or a sulfonylurea, take medicine for high blood pressure, have severe heart failure, or are due to have surgery under general anaesthetic.
Switching from an injection?
If injections have never appealed, or the needle is the thing that has stopped you starting, Foundayo may be worth discussing with your clinician.
Switching is a clinical decision. Foundayo produces less weight loss on average than the injections, so if you are doing well on one and having no problems with it, we would usually suggest staying on it.
How well does Foundayo work?
In ATTAIN-1, a 72-week trial involving 3,127 adults, people taking the highest dose of Foundayo lost an average of 12.4% of their body weight, compared with 0.9% for those on placebo.

How it compares — and where it doesn’t
We want to be straight with you. Foundayo produces less weight loss on average than the injectable treatments. Its advantage isn’t maximum results — it’s that it’s a tablet you can take anywhere, at any time, without a needle or a fridge. For a lot of people, that is the difference between starting treatment and not starting at all, or between staying on it and giving up.

These figures come from separate clinical trials with different patients and different designs. They are not a head-to-head comparison and should be read as a general guide rather than a ranking. Individual results vary.
The 12.4% figure is the average change from baseline for everyone randomised to the highest dose, as reported in the UK Summary of Product Characteristics. Some sources quote 11.2%, which is a different statistical analysis of the same trial.

How to take Foundayo
Treatment starts at a low dose and increases slowly. You stay on each dose for at least 30 days before moving up, and only if you’re tolerating it well. Not everyone needs to reach the top dose — your clinician will help you find the lowest dose that works for you.

One tablet a day
Never take two in one day to make up for a missed dose.
Any time that suits you
With food or without, and no restriction on what you drink.
Swallow it whole
Do not break, crush or chew the tablet.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, then carry on as normal. Pick a time of day you’ll remember — with breakfast, at lunch, or before bed. It makes no clinical difference, so choose whatever fits your routine.

Foundayo is stored at room temperature. Unlike our injectable treatments, it doesn’t need cold-chain packaging or a temperature-controlled delivery window.
That means we can send it across the UK, including Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands, without the postcode restrictions and dispatch-day limits that apply to our injectable treatments.
It arrives in plain, discreet packaging with nothing on the outside to say what’s inside.
Keep your tablets in the pack they arrive in. Foundayo is sensitive to light, so the original packaging is there to protect it.
